History of the Foundation
Since 1964, the College of Marin Foundation has provided funds for the support of College of Marin. Initially organized to raise money for student scholarships, the Foundation has since expanded to include general program support and funding for special projects. The Foundation takes pride in supporting activities that give distinction to College of Marin, and contribute to maintaining educational excellence.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors whose membership is drawn from the Marin community. Representatives from College administration, faculty and the student body act as advisors. A special Investment Advisory Committee, comprised of individuals from Marin County with diversified financial expertise, provide ongoing recommendations regarding Foundation investment strategies.
Housed on the Kentfield campus, the Foundation's staff consists of a full-time Executive Director, a part time Administrative Assistant and an Accountant. The Foundation staff works closely with College personnel, coordinating efforts and information.
College of Marin Foundation assets currently total approximately $3,000,000. During the 2007-08 fiscal year, the Foundation contributed $540,000 to College of Marin students and programs-- an increase over the prior year. Our success is clearly a result of the thoughtfulness and generosity of our many donors and volunteers.
