Kevin McBean, 29
The College of Marin Foundation has made college possible for Kevin McBean. He is studying geology and hopes to transfer to either U.C. Berkeley or U.C. Davis and become a geologist. The College of Marin Foundation provided Kevin with scholarships, book grants, and other financial assistance. The Foundation has “made school a reality that otherwise would not have been an option for me,” says Kevin. |

Hannah Njuguna, 41
Hannah hails from Kenya and came to America after winning a green card lottery. She came to the College of Marin with few financial resources, hoping to obtain an education that was unavailable to her in her native country. She will graduate with a nursing degree. “There were times when I thought I couldn’t do it and I attribute all my success as a student to the Foundation. Thank you doesn’t begin to express my gratitude.” |

Jessica Cronin, 25
Jessica, a Marin native and recent College of Marin graduate, is attending U.C. Berkeley this fall. While at the College of Marin, Jessica served as president of the Honor Society Alpha Gamma Sigma. She received a scholarship from the Foundation for her leadership achievements. Jessica says that the Foundation “helped to take away my financial stress allowing me to focus on school.” |

Lupe Romo, 20
Lupe first learned about the Foundation through the Summer Application Institute Program, a program that helps to inform high school students about the demands of a college education. At College of Marin, Lupe tutors other students in all subjects and serves as a Student Ambassador for the College of Marin. In addition to scholarships and book grants, Lupe is thankful for the guidance he has received from the Foundation. To the donors, Lupe says, “Thank you. You are guiding me to my future.” |

Kathy Kha, 19
Kathy, in her second year at the College of Marin, is working to finish her general education requirements before transferring to a four-year college. “Jumping into college was financially and academically difficult, and the Foundation has helped with expenses for classes allowing me to work less and study more—an essential combination for continued success in my educational pursuits.” |

Liliana Perez, 21
Liliana is the first ever New Marin Scholar participant to graduate from the program. She recently completed her AA in Liberal Arts and Sciences from College of Marin. She plans on attending San Francisco State University in the Fall of 2009. She would eventually like to share her passion for the arts by becoming a music teacher with her own private studio. “I am so glad that I had the opportunity to work with an organization like the College of Marin Foundation, that is able to help students like me continue my education. Knowing that somebody was there helping me to pay my school fees encouraged me to do my best.” |

Damien Wuterich, 21
Damien is an example of a student with high educational aspirations. He is concentrating his studies on rigorous physics and math courses so that when he graduates he can conduct theoretical and experimental physics research. He credits the College of Marin Foundation’s support for allowing him to continue pursuing his educational goals. “Thanks to the assistance of the College of Marin Foundation, I will be able to continue studying these subjects and achieve my goal of a Bachelor's degree in physics or math." |

Alex Olson, 21
A Chemical Biology major at College of Marin, Alex has his sights set on medical school. After graduation, he plans to dedicate his career to research and teaching science. Alex credits the College of Marin Foundation with giving him the support he needs to complete his studies. “It is because of them that I will be able to afford a personal computer without a strain on my budget! I am so thankful for the generosity and foresight of the donors and contributors who give students the assistance they need.” |
